Ready to start your Japanese journey? Let’s dive in together and make learning both fun and rewarding!
Hi, I’m Himawari
Hello! I’m Himawari—a native Japanese speaker, passionate teacher, and digital creator. My journey into teaching Japanese didn’t just start with a love for languages—it began with a desire to connect people to the heart of Japan.
My Journey
Born and raised in Japan, I grew up surrounded by the richness of the language and traditions. With a degree in language studies from a prestigious Japanese university and advanced training from the University of Tokyo, I’ve developed a unique teaching approach that combines practical methods with cultural insights.
Before founding JapanesePika, I worked as a translator, bridging cultural gaps and connecting people through language. Over the years, I’ve taught over 400 students from more than 20 countries, guiding them from the basics of Hiragana to mastering everyday conversations.
In addition to teaching, I share my love for Japanese language and culture with hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, X (Twitter), and Patreon. Check out my pages for extra tips, lessons, and inspiration!
Beyond Textbooks
Most courses teach you the words. I teach you the world of Japan.
In my lessons, you’ll not only master the Japanese language, but also uncover the nuances and grammar that bring fluency to life. Together, we’ll explore the etiquette, traditions, and unspoken rules that make Japanese unique. Whether it’s learning essential grammar or understanding cultural subtleties, my goal is to make language learning practical, meaningful, and fun.
Why I Teach
Teaching is not just a job for me—it’s a privilege. Seeing my students grow, whether they’re mastering their first Kanji or confidently speaking in Japanese for the first time, is incredibly rewarding. I believe learning a language is about more than words; it’s about building bridges and creating connections.
